Having your own weather station at home makes it easy to keep track of temperature, humidity and weather conditions right outside your home.
In this guide, we'll go over how a WiFi weather station works, what an outdoor sensor does, and what distinguishes models like SMK-WEATHER and SMK-WEATHER PRO.

A Wi-Fi weather station makes it easy to monitor the weather right at home. Instead of relying on general forecasts, you can measure temperature, humidity, and other weather data exactly where you live.
This is especially useful for homeowners, garden enthusiasts and anyone who wants to have better control over the climate around their home. Modern weather stations can also be connected to a mobile app so you can follow the measurements in real time.
Why use your own weather station?

Your own weather station provides significantly more accurate information than standard weather apps because it measures the climate directly where you live.
It may be extra valuable if you:
- want to monitor the temperature around the house
- have a greenhouse or garden
- want to measure humidity in basement or garage
- want to know exactly how much it rains
With a smart weather station, you can also view historical graphs and weather data directly on your mobile phone via apps such as Stonehouse Smart or Tuya Smart.
Wi-Fi Weather Station Pro – complete weather station with wind and rain

The advanced model is a complete weather station with a solar-powered 7-in-1 sensor that measures several different weather parameters simultaneously.
It can measure:
- wind speed
- wind direction
- rainfall
- UV index
- solar radiation
- temperature
- humidity
All sensors are located in the robust outdoor unit while the base station is placed indoors where you can easily read all the data.
See Wi-Fi Weather Station Pro – 7-in-1 sensor here
This type of weather station is perfect for those who want a complete picture of the weather around the house.
WiFi weather station – temperature and humidity in multiple rooms

The simpler model is a perfect option if you mainly want to monitor temperature and humidity.
One sensor is included in the package, but the system can handle up to three sensors. This allows you to measure the climate in multiple locations simultaneously.
Common uses:
- cellar
- garage
- storehouse
- greenhouse
- summer cottage

Add more sensors

If you want to measure the climate in more spaces, you can easily supplement with extra temperature and humidity sensors.
This allows you to monitor, for example:
- greenhouse
- cellar
- garage
- storehouse
See temperature and humidity sensor here
Perfect for greenhouses and gardens

A weather station is especially useful in a greenhouse or garden where temperature and humidity affect plant growth.
By monitoring the climate in real time, you can quickly see when the temperature gets too high or when the humidity changes.
Simple installation
Installation is very simple and only takes a few minutes:
- Place the base station indoors
- Place the sensor outdoors or in the room you want to measure
- Connect the power adapter
- Download Stonehouse Smart or Tuya Smart
- Pair via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi
Once the installation is complete, you can follow the weather directly on your mobile phone.
Which weather station should you choose?

If you want a complete weather station that measures wind, rain and UV, the Wi-Fi Weather Station Pro is the right choice.
If you instead want to monitor temperature and humidity in multiple rooms, the WiFi weather station with multiple sensors is a very good option.
Many people choose to use both models together to gain full control over both the weather outside and the climate in different parts of the house.
Frequently asked questions about our WiFi weather stations
What is the difference between SMK-WEATHER and SMK-WEATHER PRO?
SMK-WEATHER is a compact weather station that measures temperature, humidity and air pressure and displays weather forecasts via the internet. It uses separate wireless sensors for temperature and humidity.
The SMK-WEATHER PRO is a more advanced model with a larger all-in-one sensor that also measures wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, UV index and sunlight. It is better suited for those who want a more complete weather station.
Can multiple outdoor sensors be used?
Yes. SMK-WEATHER can handle up to three separate temperature and humidity sensors simultaneously. Each sensor is set to its own channel (CH1, CH2 or CH3), allowing you to measure temperature in multiple locations, such as your garden, garage or greenhouse.
How long is the range of the sensors?
The range is up to approximately 100 meters in a clear line of sight between the sensor and the display. Walls, metal and other obstacles may reduce the range.
Does the weather station have to be connected to WiFi?
No. Basic functions such as temperature and humidity work without WiFi. However, if you connect the weather station to WiFi, you will get weather forecasts, automatic time setting and more features in the app.
Which app is used for the weather station?
You can use Stonehouse Smart, Tuya Smart or Smart Life. Apps are available for free for both iPhone and Android.
Where should the outdoor sensor be placed?
For best results, the sensor should be placed in the shade and protected from direct rain and strong sunlight. Direct sunlight can otherwise cause excessively high temperature readings.
What do I do if the sensor loses contact with the weather station?
First, make sure the batteries are fresh and the sensor is not placed too far away. You can also restart the connection by holding down the CH button on the weather station until the receive icon starts flashing, then pressing the TX button on the sensor.
How accurate is the temperature measurement in the weather station?
Temperature is normally measured with an accuracy of approximately ±1°C within normal temperature ranges. For best accuracy, the outdoor sensor should be placed in the shade and protected from direct sunlight.
Why does the outdoor sensor sometimes show the wrong temperature?
The most common cause is that the sensor is in direct sunlight or too close to a wall that is heated by the sun. Place the sensor in the shade and preferably with some air around it for more accurate temperature readings.
How often is the temperature updated from the sensor?
The outdoor sensor normally sends new temperature and humidity values to the weather station approximately every minute. Therefore, it may take a short while before changes in temperature appear on the display.
