What makes a laminating module a HID FARGO HDP5000e?
The module applies a protective overlay to the finished printed card. Depending on the chosen laminate, this can provide higher durability and also add visual security elements.
What does double-sided laminating mean?
The double-sided module can laminate both sides of the card in the same workflow. This provides protection on both the front and back and is suitable for cards that are exposed to high usage or need security laminate on both sides.
Can the laminating module be used independently?
No. It is an optional accessory for the HID FARGO HDP5000e and is used as part of the printer's workflow.
Which card formats are supported when laminating?
HID indicates CR-80 cards, 85.6 x 54 mm, with a card thickness of approximately 0.762 to 1.27 mm.
What types of laminate can be used?
HID indicates Thermal Transfer Overlaminate and PolyGuard Overlaminate. Our range includes both clear laminates and safety laminates depending on the desired level of protection and safety.
What is the difference between Thermal Transfer Overlaminate and PolyGuard?
Thermal Transfer Overlaminate is a thinner protective laminate, while PolyGuard is a stronger laminate for cards that require higher durability. HID indicates 0.25 mils for Thermal Transfer and 0.6 or 1.0 mils for PolyGuard.
Can holographic or security laminates be used?
Yes. The HDP5000e platform supports overmolding with a safety design. We offer, among other things, the High Secure Orbit and Orbit variants in our range.
Can ordinary PVC cards be laminated?
HID states that ABS and PVC cards are not recommended for use in the HDP5000e Lamination Module. Therefore, please check the card material before choosing the laminating method.
