The RF-SMOKE-10Y is an EN14604 certified optical smoke detector with wireless RF interconnection. It can be used as a stand-alone smoke detector or connected to other compatible devices for a common alarm.
Can I use it without a hub, WiFi or app?
Yes. It works completely standalone right out of the box without a hub, WiFi, app or internet.
Can it be used as a regular smoke alarm?
Yes. If you don't connect it to other devices, it works like a regular stand-alone smoke alarm that sounds a local alarm when smoke develops.
What does series-connected smoke alarms mean?
This means that multiple smoke alarms are connected wirelessly. When one device detects smoke, all connected devices start to sound an alarm at the same time.
How many devices can be connected?
You can connect up to 40 compatible smoke and heat detectors in the same system.
How loud does it alarm?
When smoke is detected, a powerful siren of at least 85 dB at 3 meters is activated, as well as a clear LED indication.
How long does the battery last?
It has a pre-installed CR123A battery with up to 10 years of life under normal use.
Do I need to change the battery often?
No. The long-life battery is designed for many years of operation and minimal maintenance.
What wireless technology does it use?
It uses 433 MHz RF for direct communication between devices without the need for internet or external control.
How long is its range?
Up to approximately 100 meters in open line of sight. Indoors, the range is affected by walls, metal and other obstacles.
Does it work if the internet is down?
Yes. All communication takes place locally between the devices, so internet is not needed.
How do I pair multiple smoke alarms?
Put the devices into pairing mode according to the manual and connect them directly to each other. When pairing is complete, they will alarm together.
How do I test that the connection is working?
Press the test button on one device. The other connected devices should also beep and flash.
What happens if a smoke alarm goes off?
The triggering device sounds an alarm immediately and sends a signal to other connected devices, which also start to sound an alarm.
How do I turn off the alarm?
The alarm is silenced via the test/hush button on the unit. The triggering smoke alarm will normally continue to indicate where smoke has been detected.
Where should I place the smoke alarm?
Place it on the ceiling in bedrooms, hallways, living rooms, escape routes and preferably one per floor. Avoid placing it near ventilation, kitchens, steam or strong heat sources.
How is it installed?
Attach the mounting plate to the ceiling with the included screws and plugs, and then screw the smoke alarm into place.
Is it suitable for multi-storey buildings?
Yes. Series-connected smoke alarms are very good in multi-story buildings because all units sound the alarm at the same time.
What do I do if the range feels short?
Place the devices closer together and avoid obstacles or metal between them.
What do I do if I get a false alarm?
Move the device further away from kitchens, bathrooms, ventilation or dusty environments. Clean the smoke alarm and test again.
