Window brake with 20 mm wide rectangular profile, fixed frame attachment and normal track width 801-1100 mm.

Check model and workmanship before ordering

ASSA Fix 150 has a fixed mounting bracket. Do not confuse it with ASSA Fix 160, which has a reclining mounting bracket, or with ASSA 750 and 760, which have a 16 mm T-shaped Euronot profile.

1. Check the left execution

Hold the brake lever with the opening facing upwards, the short side facing you and the locking lever away from you. For this model, the brake pin should be on the left side.

ASSA Fix 150/4 Left window brake with 452 mm brake chamber

ASSA Fix 150/4 Left is a window and door brake for windows, window doors, patio doors and balcony doors that is used in conjunction with a compatible ASSA intercom with brake transmission.

The model has a 20 mm wide rectangular brake caliper, fixed frame attachment and left-hand execution. The length of the brake pedal is 452mm and the model is intended for a normal track width of 801-1100 mm.

Make sure you actually have ASSA Fix 150

Do not choose the brake solely based on the length of the brake drum or the make of the door.

  • ASSA Fix 150: 20 mm rectangular profile and fixed frame mount
  • ASSA Fix 160: 20 mm rectangular profile and reclining armrest mount
  • ASSA 750/760: 16 mm T-shaped Euronot profile

Also check that the left-hand running position and the length of the brake drum of 452 mm are correct.

Check these four points before ordering

1. Check the profile

ASSA Fix 150 is said to have a 20 mm wide rectangular brake caliper.

The profile should not be the 16 mm wide T-shaped Euronot profile used on the ASSA 750 and ASSA 760.

2. Check the mounting bracket

ASSA Fix 150 has fixed frame attachment.

  • ASSA Fix 150: fixed frame attachment
  • ASSA Fix 160: detachable frame bracket

The construction of the hinge is an important part of model identification.

3. Measure the brake box

The ASSA Fix 150/4 has a 452 mm long brake chamber.

Only measure the straight brake housing from side to side. Do not count the lower bracket, the pin or the arm.

Normal track width: 801-1100 mm.

This is how you measure the length of the brake caliper on the ASSA Fix 150/4

4. Check the left execution

Hold the brake box with the opening facing upwards, the short side towards you and the locking lever away from you.

For this product, the brake lever should be on left side.

Do not start from the hinge side of the door or window.

This is how ASSA Fix 150 works

ASSA Fix 150 is used together with a compatible ASSA lever with brake transmission. The brake is operated by the usual handle on the door or window.

With the handle in the closed position, friction is created in the brake so that the bow can be kept in the desired wind direction. When the handle is moved to the open position, the bow is allowed to move freely.

In case of heavy overload, the brake may slip to reduce the load on the bow, hinge and other components.

Model Profile Frame anchor Child safety lock
ASSA Fix 150 20 mm rectangular Almost No
ASSA Fix 160 20 mm rectangular Relaxable No
ASSA Fix 150S 20 mm rectangular Almost Yes

Left and right are determined by the brake lever

Left or right has nothing to do with whether the door or window is hung left- or right-hung.

Hold the brake box with the opening facing upwards, the short side facing you and the long axle shaft away from you:

  • Pin on the left side means left model
  • Pin on the right side means right model

This product is left, which means that the brake lever should be on the left side when the brake is held as described above.

The lower beam is cut during assembly

The total length of the lower arm at delivery is 907 mm including the pin. The long locking bar is adjusted to the dimensions of the door or window during installation.

When replacing an existing ASSA Fix 150/4

Use the old identical brake caliper as a reference and cut the new brake caliper to the same length.

First, check that the profile, mounting bracket, brake lever length, and left-hand design are correct.

Double-check before cutting

Only cut the long lower part of the axle. Do not cut the brake housing. Make sure the correct model and design is ordered before cutting the lower part of the axle.

When installing a new brake without the old brake

Do not compromise the feel of the door. First choose the correct model for the arch width and follow the measured installation instructions for the ASSA Fix 150. The installation measurements may be affected by the design of the door or window.

Do you need help identifying the brake?

Send clear photos of:

  • The whole old brake system
  • Profile viewed from the short side
  • The Karmfästet
  • The mechanism where the left or right pin is visible
  • The connection to the spaniel
  • Any markings

Also send the width and exact length of the brake drum in millimeters.

Frequently asked questions
What is ASSA Fix 150/4 Left?
ASSA Fix 150/4 Left is a window and door brake with a 20 mm wide rectangular brake chamber, a fixed frame mount and a 452 mm long brake chamber.
What width of beam fits the ASSA Fix 150/4?
The model is intended for a normal track width of 801 to 1100 mm. When replacing, the model, length and design of the old brake must be the primary reference.
How long is the braking system on the ASSA Fix 150/4?
The actual brake box is 452 mm long. Measure only the straight brake box from one side to the other and do not include the lower bracket, pin or arm.
How wide is the profile?
The ASSA Fix 150 has a 20 mm wide rectangular brake caliper. It should not be confused with the ASSA 750 or 760 with a 16 mm T-shaped Euro profile.
What is the difference between ASSA Fix 150 and ASSA Fix 160?
Both have a 20 mm wide rectangular profile. ASSA Fix 150 has a fixed frame mount, while ASSA Fix 160 has a reclining frame mount.
Is this ASSA Fix 150 left-hand or right-hand?
This product is left-handed. When the brake lever is held with the opening upwards, the short side facing you and the left armrest away from you, the brake pin should be on the left side.
Does the door hinge side determine left or right?
No. Left or right is determined by the position of the brake lever inside the brake box, not by which side the door or window hinges are on.
Does the ASSA Fix 150 have a fixed or adjustable mounting bracket?
The ASSA Fix 150 has a fixed mounting bracket. If you need a reclining mounting bracket, you should instead check out the ASSA Fix 160.
Should the lock spindle be cut?
Yes. The total length of the lever arm at delivery is 907 mm including the pin and is adjusted during assembly. When replacing, the old identical lever arm of the brake is used as a reference.
Can I take the brake box apart?
No. Only the long axle needs to be cut. The brake box and other parts should not be cut.
What is the difference between ASSA Fix 150 and ASSA Fix 150S?
The ASSA Fix 150S has a special child-protection locking function. A conventional ASSA Fix 150 should not be replaced with the 150S simply because the profile and length seem to match.
