Ajax MotionCam Outdoor HighMount (PhOD)

Ajax MotionCam Outdoor HighMount (PhOD) is an advanced wireless motion detector for outdoor use that combines two PIR sensors and a microwave sensor to accurately detect motion without dead spots.

The built-in camera sends images in the event of an alarm, when smoke detectors are activated, and on request.

The camera has IR illumination that is automatically activated at night to provide clear images even in dark conditions.

The detector has an adjustable sensitivity level of three levels and is equipped with a temperature sensor to measure the ambient temperature.

It is compatible with Hub 2, Hub 2 Plus, Hub Hybrid Fibra and ReX 2 and can be installed at heights between 2 and 4 meters, providing a wide coverage area of up to 15 meters.

To minimize false alarms, advanced algorithms such as SmartDetect and LISA are used, and a Fresnel lens makes it possible to distinguish people from heat or motion noise.

Installation is easy and flexible, thanks to the included metal bracket that allows rotation to adjust the viewing angle.

The detector is IP55 rated and operates in temperatures from -25° to +60°C, making it ideal for use in outdoor environments.

Frequently asked questions
What is Ajax MotionCam Outdoor HighMount (PhOD)?
Ajax MotionCam Outdoor HighMount (PhOD) is an advanced wireless outdoor motion detector with photo verification camera. It is intended for high-rise mounting (2-4 meters) and is used to monitor larger areas such as plots, yards, parking lots and industrial areas.
What does HighMount mean?
HighMount means that the detector is designed for mounting at a high height, usually between 2 and 4 meters. This provides a better overview, larger coverage area and reduces the risk of sabotage.
What does PhOD mean?
PhOD stands for Photo on Demand. This means that the camera can take pictures both in case of an alarm and manually on request via the Ajax app, as well as via scenarios and schedules.
How does HighMount (PhOD) differ from regular MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD)?
HighMount is intended for high mounting (2–4 m) and larger areas, while MotionCam Outdoor (PhOD) is mounted lower (approx. 0.8–1.3 m) and is better suited for entrances, facades and walkways.
How is HighMount (PhOD) different from MotionCam Outdoor without PhOD?
MotionCam Outdoor without PhOD can only take pictures upon alarm. HighMount (PhOD) can also take pictures on demand, via scenarios, schedules and when arming and disarming.
How does HighMount (PhOD) differ from MotionCam Outdoor HighMount without PhOD?
HighMount (PhOD) offers more imaging features such as Photo on Demand and scheduled imaging, which are not available on versions without PhOD.
How long is the range of motion detection?
Motion detection occurs up to approximately 15 meters.
How does detection work?
The detector uses two PIR sensors combined with a K-band microwave sensor to filter out false alarms from weather, sunlight, vegetation and temperature changes.
Does the device have anti-masking protection?
Yes, it has an active anti-masking system that alerts if someone tries to cover, block, tape or paint over the sensors.
Is anti-masking always active?
Yes, anti-masking is active regardless of whether the alarm is armed or disarmed.
Can the MotionCam Outdoor HighMount (PhOD) be used indoors?
Yes, it can also be used indoors in large or cold spaces, but is primarily designed for outdoor use.
Is it pet-proof?
Yes, properly installed, it ignores animals and small objects at ground level thanks to mounting height and advanced filtering.
Can it take pictures in the dark?
Yes, it has built-in IR illumination and takes black and white images in the dark or low light.
How many photos are taken upon alarm?
Up to 5 images in 320×240 or up to 3 images in 640×480, depending on setting.
How are the pictures sent?
Alarms and events are sent via the Jeweller protocol, while images are sent via the Wings protocol for stable and secure transmission.
Does it require Ajax hub?
Yes, it requires a compatible Ajax hub and can also be used with ReX or ReX 2 for longer range.
Are batteries and brackets included?
Yes, batteries are pre-installed and both SmartBracket and swivel HighMount bracket are included.
How long does the device last?
Up to approximately 3 years with normal use.
Can it be connected to external power?
Yes, it can be connected to an external power supply of 12–24 V DC. The batteries then act as a backup.
When is an external power supply recommended?
For frequent image capture, cold climates or when you want to minimize battery changes.
Does the device have tamper protection?
Yes, it has both tamper protection and a magnetometer that sounds an alarm if you try to move, tilt or disassemble the device.
Do I need a subscription?
No, no subscription is required. A subscription is only needed if the system is connected to an alarm center.
When to choose MotionCam Outdoor HighMount (PhOD)?
It is best suited when you want camera-monitored motion detection over large outdoor areas, want to mount it high for a better overview, and need both alarm images and images on demand.
