Assa / Fix 160S – Window brake with child-proof latch for patio doors and windows
Assa Fix 160S used together with ASSA espagnolette with transfer in both windows and patio doors. The series has detachable frame bracket and one 20 mm wide brake box.
The brake helps the door or window to stay in a ventilation position instead of closing or opening completely.
Fix 160S also has a child-proof lock function which limits the opening to a safe ventilation position of a maximum 100 mm opening gap.
To open past the latch position and get the door fully open, you need to insert the key and turn.
To find the right model you need to check:
- The length of the brake box
- Whether the model is left or right
- That the bracket matches your existing brake
1. Measure the brake box
Measure the length of the straight aluminum part of the brake, i.e. the brake housing itself.
2. Check left or right
Based on bottom of the brake box and imagine that the stick is pointing away from you. Then look into the brake box and see which side the brake pin is on.
- Left: the brake pin is located on the left side
- Right: the brake pin is located on the right side
Important: Don't look from the direction of the stick, then left and right will be reversed.
Advantage of Fix 160S: The model has a built-in locking piston that limits the opening for increased child safety. To open completely, use the key.

Note: Left and right have nothing to do with whether the door or window is left or right-hung. It is the location of the brake pin inside the brake box that determines the model.
