ASSA Fix 160S/3 – child safety window brake
ASSA Fix 160S/3 is a window and door brake for windows and windowsills together with the ASSA/Fix-spanjolett that has transmission for window braking. The series combines the usual braking function with a child-protective locking function.
This product is Right and has a 352 mm long brake box. It is intended for bow widths of approximately 551-800 mm.
The 160S has child safety locking function
The locking lever limits the opening to a permissible opening position of no more than approximately 100 mm of opening clearance. For type-approved child safety function, the ASSA Fix 4570 is used, and the key must be removed.
This is how the ASSA Fix 160S works
The brake is operated using the standard handle of the splint. With the handle in the closed position, the brake holds the arch with friction in the desired ventilation position. With the handle in the open position, the arch is given clearance.
The holding friction increases at a larger opening angle. In case of overload, the brake can slide to reduce the load on the bow and hinge.
Childcare and ASSA Fix 4570
The ASSA Fix 160S has a separate locking housing with a locking piston. The locking mechanism restricts the opening to a child-resistant ventilation position.
To temporarily open past the lock position, the key is inserted control device ASSA Fix 4570 and is turned before the bow reaches the locking position. When the bow is closed and the key is removed, the locking function is automatically resumed.
ASSA Fix 4570 is purchased separately
The 160S is type approved as a child restraint device together with the correct control device and when the key is removed.
Detachable frame bracket
The ASSA Fix 160S has detachable frame bracket. The mounting bracket is not included with the brake, but must be purchased separately. Common options are ASSA Fix 5580 and 5550T, Depending on the installation.
So, how do you check that the right side is correct?
The right and left sides should be identified on the brake itself. Do not assume that the door or window is on the side where the hinge is attached.
- Hold or place the brake with the open side of the brake caliper facing upwards.
- Let the long bassline point away from you.
- Look down into the brake box.
- On this right model the brake lever should be on right side.
Right stick = right model
Important: Do not look from the pin’s point of view, because then the right and left become reversed.

Measure the brake box, not the entire brake
The ASSA Fix 160S/3 has a brake box that is 352mm long. Measure the straight brake housing from one side to the other.
Do not rely on the brake caliper, brake lever, arm or bracket housing. The length alone is not enough to identify a 160S because a standard ASSA Fix 160 may have the same brake caliper length.

20 mm rectangular profile
ASSA Fix 160S uses a 20 mm rectangular brake caliper profile and does not fit the Euronot profile used by, for example, the ASSA 750 and 760.
