Which tag or model should I choose?
The choice of tag depends on your specific needs and applications. Here is an overview of our different models:
- ABS Plus: This is our best seller and offers the best price. It is slightly thicker, which makes it last longer than a thinner tag and is a good choice for most applications.
- Pro (2.9mm): For businesses and users who prefer a more compact tag, we offer the thinner “Pro” variant. It is sleek and well suited for those who need a discreet solution.
- PVC (thin as a credit card): If you're looking for an even thinner tag, the PVC model is a good choice. It's as thin as a credit card and is suitable for those who want a minimalist design.
- Droppen: A classic model with a timeless design that has been popular for a long time. It offers both durability and a stylish look.
- Fiberglass: For applications where durability is essential, such as warehouses, construction sites or other harsh environments, fiberglass tags are an excellent choice. They are virtually vandal-proof and highly durable.
In most cases, you can use a tag with the correct chip, regardless of model. All our tags have original chips and are compatible with most access control systems.
To make it easier to find the right tag, you can filter by chip and technology in each category. For more information on what type of tag or chip you need, please see the next paragraph.
How do I know which technology EM/Mifare etc. we should have in the tag?
The choice of technology for your RFID tag depends on the access control system you have and your specific needs. All access control systems use some type of chip or technology, and often the supplier or manufacturer of your system can provide information about which technology is used. There are also methods for finding out which technology your system supports.
Here is an overview of the most common options, presented in a logical order:
- Mifare Classic 1K – This is the most common and popular chip in today's access control systems. Mifare1K is used in both simple and advanced systems and is the best-selling model on the market right now.
- EM4200 – An older and simpler chip that is still used in many older installations. If your system uses EM4200, you will need an EM4200 tag to be able to plug it into the system.
- Mifare Classic 4K – A variant of Mifare1K with a larger storage capacity (4K), allowing you to store more applications on the same card. It is used in systems that require handling larger amounts of data.
- EM4200 + Mifare1K Combined – This combined tag works in both EM and Mifare systems, providing flexibility for users who may need to switch between different systems or who use multiple systems simultaneously.
- Mifare4K + EM4200 Combined – A combination of Mifare 4K and EM4200, suitable for users who need both greater storage capacity and compatibility with older EM4200 systems.
- DESFire – An advanced chip with high security, perfect for more complex systems that handle sensitive information or more functions, such as access control and payments.
- Salto System – A chip used in high-security access control systems, typically in hotels or commercial properties where advanced features and flexibility are important.
To choose the right tag, it is crucial to know which technology your access control system uses. By ensuring that the tag has the right chip and technology, you can be sure that it will work with your system. If you are unsure which technology is right for your system, please contact us and we will help you!
There are tags with numbers, what do the numbers mean?
The numbers on an RFID tag represent unique identification numbers (IDs) or a specific code to distinguish tags in a system. This number allows the system to identify each individual tag and associate it with a user or a specific function, such as access to a door or other security device. Depending on the chip used (e.g. Mifare, EM4200), the numbers may be embedded in the chip and be part of the security and functionality that the system offers.
In some cases, the numbers can also be used to link the tag to specific groups or functions in the access control system, allowing the system to handle different levels of access or authorization.
Do I have to have numbers printed on the tag, or why would I want to?
It is not a requirement to have numbers printed on an RFID tag, but it can be beneficial in several situations. Here are some reasons why you might want to have numbers on the tag:
- Compatibility with different systems: Our RFID tags, such as EM4200 and Mifare1k, are used in a range of security systems such as RCO, Axema VAKA, ASSA, Aptus, Bewator and many more. Having numbers engraved on the tag makes it easy to identify and match the tag to the correct system, which is especially important for “marrying” the tag into the current access control system.
- Easy identification and administration: The numbers on the tag make it easy to manually identify and manage tags, which can be useful when registering users or troubleshooting. For example, if you have a large number of tags in the system, you can quickly associate the tags with specific users or functions.
- Flexibility and adaptation: To meet specific needs or create a more personalized experience, numbers or a logo can be engraved on the tags. This allows you to create a customized solution for your project, whether it is an access control system, visitor management system or other applications.
- Professional and uniform design: If you want your tags to have a consistent and professional look, numbers can be used to create order and structure. For example, you can choose to engrave sequential numbers or your system's specific number to keep track of your tags in a practical way.
While numbers are not a requirement, they can provide increased efficiency, flexibility, and control in managing RFID tags, while improving the user experience.
I want our company logo or other customizations on the tag, how do I do that?
We can of course arrange that!
We offer a variety of customization options for our tags, including engraving a logo or number. The most common option is to engrave a solid color logo, which is both durable and hard-wearing, with no risk of scratching or discoloring over time.
Here's how:
- Go to the product page: On each tag's product page, there is a button called “Customize Product”.
- Choose your options: Here you can choose between different customization options, including:
- Engraved logo:
- Engraved numbers:
- Color logo
- Upload your logo: If you have your own logo, you can upload it here. If you don't have your logo ready, don't worry - we will contact you after your order to collect your logo and provide a proof before engraving.
- Volume orders: If you need larger volumes or specific requirements, please contact us for the best price and more information. We can also give you access to our B2B portal.
We always use certified chips from NXP® or EM Microelectronics, depending on your chosen model, ensuring that all our tags are of the highest quality.
If you have any questions or are unsure which solution best suits your needs, please do not hesitate to contact us for a quote and technical support. We offer fast delivery – usually within 1-3 days for custom tags!
I don't know what to choose.
We understand that choosing the right RFID technology can feel overwhelming, and we are here to help! We offer RFID consulting to help you, for example, identify which technology is used in your existing system or which reader is best suited to your needs.
With years of experience in RFID technology, we can guide you to the best solution from the start. Please contact us by phone or email, and we will help you develop a tailor-made solution that suits your specific requirements.
For many of our customers who are unsure, they simply send us a tag or card for a free analysis of the chip. We will read the information and get back to you with a quote and recommend a suitable solution. If you wish to return your tag, we will send it back in a trackable package/letter.
We would like to emphasize that we do not use your sample for any purpose other than analysis and offer full confidentiality and security. Your tag is used solely to identify the correct RFID technology for your system.
