Visonic SMD-976 PGP – PowerG smoke and heat detector

Visonic SMD-976 PGP is a wireless fire detector for Visonic PowerMaster systems that combines multiple sensor types to detect fire as early as possible. It contains both optical smoke sensor, fixed temperature sensor and detection of rapid temperature increase.

The detector uses PowerG wireless technology which provides stable and secure communication with the alarm system.

Replaces previous models

The SMD-976 PGP is the next generation of PowerG fire detectors and can replace previous models in many installations such as Visonic SMD-429.

The new model offers improved diagnostics, longer battery life and modern PowerG communication.

Advanced diagnostics

The detector offers several features that simplify service and maintenance:

  • real-time reporting of battery level via the alarm panel
  • dust monitoring of the smoke chamber (with compatible PowerG+ panels)
  • easy access to the smoke chamber for cleaning

These features help maintain optimal performance over time.

PowerG technology

PowerG is Visonics' advanced wireless technology for security products and offers:

  • high operational reliability
  • stable communication
  • long range
  • two-way communication between sensor and central

Compatibility

SMD-976 PGP is compatible with Visonic PowerMaster panels from firmware version 20.xxx and later.

There are currently reports that some older PowerMaster panels with older firmware may have problems connecting to this model. An updated version of the product is available according to the manufacturer. Johnson Controls (JCI) under development for better compatibility with older systems.

If you are unsure which firmware your control panel uses, we recommend that you contact us before purchasing.

Installation

The detector is normally mounted on the ceiling and is battery powered. The built-in piezoelectric siren provides local alarm indication in the event of a fire.
